Before moving into topics and publishing, it helps to define what a column is and why column-based planning creates a more durable content workflow.
A column is not a single post. It is an ongoing content direction built around one shared theme.
Working by column turns scattered content ideas into a clearer, repeatable production system.
Start with positioning, then move through topic planning, content generation, visual creation, and social publishing in one connected workflow. Each step is designed around real production friction, so ideas, writing, visuals, and publishing flow naturally into one another.
Set the positioning, audience, channel, and creative direction first so every topic and draft starts from a clearer foundation.
Turn the column direction into a publishable topic list that helps you move faster and maintain a steady content rhythm.
Expand each topic into drafts, publishing copy, and visuals that stay aligned, without splitting writing and asset prep into separate passes.
Move finished content straight into social publishing so creation and distribution stay connected across channels.
Whether you run a personal account, a recurring editorial series, or a long-term search content program, columns help you set the direction, topics, and production flow up front.
Build a consistent voice and publishing rhythm for opinion-driven threads, reactions, and short-form content series.
Examples
For example, an AI creator on X could run columns like "AI product watch," "weekly new tools," and "AI workflow breakdowns."
Create repeatable long-form columns around one clear theme with a stable structure and editorial voice.
Examples
For example, a brand operator could run columns like "brand growth reviews," "content operating playbooks," and "weekly case breakdowns."
Break one core direction into tutorials, recommendations, case studies, and lists for multi-angle content coverage.
Examples
For example, a food creator on Xiaohongshu could run columns like "solo quick meals," "city food lists," and "low-calorie daily recipes."
Build searchable content assets around keywords, product use cases, and recurring search intent.
Examples
For example, a SaaS team could run columns like "product tutorials," "problem-solving guides," and "feature use-case libraries."
A good rule is to split columns by content direction, audience, and publishing channel instead of putting everything into one stream. A SaaS team might create separate columns for reporting, CRM, and sales follow-up; an X creator might split between opinions, tool updates, and workflow breakdowns.
Topics are generated from your column positioning, content direction, keywords, and scenario needs. You can keep generating new topic lists over time so the column supports ongoing publishing instead of a one-off batch.
Yes. You can combine topic generation with web-based research on recent trends, industry updates, and platform signals so ideas stay current as well as aligned with your column direction.
If you want direct social publishing, you usually need to connect or authorize the target platform first so the system can publish on your behalf. If you only want strategy, topics, drafts, and visuals, you can use those parts without setting up publishing access.
You can revise them iteratively. Update the column direction, add constraints, regenerate topics, or rewrite only the draft or visual prompt without starting over from scratch.
If the formats, tone, and publishing goals are meaningfully different, separate columns usually work better. X, newsletters, Xiaohongshu, and SEO blogs often benefit from their own planning structure.
Enter your content direction, account goal, or target topics first. We will start from column positioning and help you build the rest of the workflow.
